ABOUT
Monica Kwok is an attorney at Goodwin based in Boston and Los Angeles specializing in private equity M&A and search funds.
Monica represents private equity investors and their portfolio companies on key transactions across a variety of industries, including media, technology, professional services, consumer goods and retail. She also has significant experience counseling founder-owned companies on general corporate matters and liquidity transactions.
Monica also regularly engages with the search fund or entrepreneurship through acquisition (ETA) community and routinely advises search fund clients in all phases of the search fund lifecycle, including fund formation, fundraising, acquisitions, ongoing operations and beyond.

Monica is involved in various community organizations, including the Artist Council at the Addison Gallery of American Art and the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Campaign for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

SEARCH FUNDS
Monica has a robust search fund or ETA practice and is passionate about advising entrepreneurs as they pursue their dreams of acquiring a business and beyond through the search fund model. Monica takes a personal approach in counseling searchers throughout all stages of the search fund life cycle, including fund formation and capital raising, tax structuring, due diligence, acquiring the target business, operating the acquired companies and formulating exit strategies.

Monica believes in long term partnerships with her clients and operates under the key principles of trust, integrity and fostering a community. Monica’s practice is centered around providing timely advice to clients every step of the way as they operate their newly acquired companies and partnering with them as they progress through each phase of growing the business, including recapitalizations, add-on acquisitions, spin-offs and dispositions.
Private Equity M&A
Monica routinely represents private equity sponsors, investment funds and private companies in a wide variety of transactional matters. She has a broad range of experience negotiating and closing leveraged buyouts, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, carve-outs and growth equity investments in the United States and abroad.
Food & Healthy Living
At Goodwin, Monica is a member of the Food & Healthy Living practice, working with consumer products clients in the fitness, beauty, wellness, technology, food and vitamins sectors. Monica also routinely advises clients acquiring or operating medspas, clinics and treatment centers.
